Hello
Well, I was joking when I said said that I was going to make a blog documenting the style of my son and I, but…well…here we are! How long this will last is anyone’s guess, as I was always bad at seeing projects through after the initial rush of creation, and then I had two kids, so, time, energy and wherewithal are at an all-time low. But I’ve brushed off a languishing squarespace site (another once exciting project now buried under the strata of life), I’ve unstuck my laptop’s space key from the fruit juice (my daughter) and Dorito crumbs (me) that were holding it back, and I am raring to go. (For now)
Part of the reason that I want to document what I wear, and what my son L wears is that I know from my daughter - now four - that the days of being able to thoughtfully dress her in a curated collection of beautiful colours and fabrics is long, long gone. Thankfully, she is either unaware of the existence of or deeply unbothered by Disney - specifically Frozen - branded clothing, but her style is incredibly unique and usually revolves around all purple, mismatched items, and a weird layering system which involves heavy woollen cardigans underneath tight long-sleeved t shirts and she will not be told. Thinking about it, I’m going to have to document some of her stylistic choices too, I think. We’ll either look back on them one day and laugh, or wonder at her powers of prescience as we sit there with matted hair wearing one lilac wellington boot and one indigo sparkly croc, shorts underneath tights and a dress on top of a chunky knit.
And look, I know no one is really going to read this, but I think I’ll just give it a go, for now, until I get too tired, or something else shiny comes along, or quite simply, I forget.
